5th CRY Cadence Corporate Cricket Challenge
The annual CRY Cadence Corporate Cricket Challenge (5Cs), a cricket tournament held in 3 cities, brings together corporates on a cricket pitch, for the benefit of children. The principal sponsors were HP, TYCO Electronics, Birlasoft, PCI, SACC and Polaris.
Delhi
The participants included Cadence, Gillette, The Oberoi, Hughes Software Systems, Amex, Ranbaxy, Aaj Tak, Birlasoft, Citifinancial Consumer Finance, LG, Hutch, Reliance Energy, Nestle, Hindustan Times, Exl Services.Com and Mentor Graphics. Exl Services.Com beat Citifinancial Consumer Finance in an exciting final watched by the likes of Murali Karthik, Bishen Singh Bedi, Chetan Chauhan and Navjot Singh Siddhu. An auction of cricket memorabilia, including two cricket bats signed by the Indian cricket team and caps signed by Sehwag, Dravid and Ganguly, generated Rs. 24,000. Two cartoons by Sudhir Tailang were also sold, for a whopping Rs. 30,000.
Chandigarh
Former Indian test cricketer, Dinesh Mongia, inaugurated the tournament, while SIGMA, Tata Tele Services, Infosys, DSM Anti-Infectives India Ltd, Spice Communications, Quark, HFCL and ICICI were among those battling it out on the pitch. Quark outplayed the Infosys by 17 runs
Bangalore
16 teams participated including Cadence, Reliance Infocomm, Hutch India, Reuters India, HP India, SAP India ICG, Convergys India, FCG India, Dell India, ANZ IT, Wipro, HSBC India, AXA Insurance Services, ING Vysya Group, ICICI Bank and Network Solutions India. The inaugural match was kicked off by former Indian wicket keeper Syed Kirmani and Wing Commander D. Das, Head of the IAF HQ Training Command, Bangalore. ANZ IT won the finals, beating Wipro by 3 wickets.
The final was followed by a special celebrity match that saw the participation of Ramesh Arvind and Anu Prabhakar (actors); Nisha Millet, Shikha Tandon, Roland Barrington, Imtiaz Ahmed, Reeth Abraham (sportspersons); Amit Heri (musician); Upen Patel and Deepika Padukone (models); Manoviraj Khosla (fashion designer); Sanjay Ramachandran (photographer); Bob Hoekstra (CEO, Philips Software Centre, India); Mona Donahoe (Head, HSBC EDP India); and Darius (RJ with Radio City Bangalore).
