Pinwheel Programmes
Children, Celebrities, CRY and the Chakri - they make for an evening of fun-filled commitment. The metros of Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata have all been celebrating programmes related to CRY's pinwheel campaign.
In Bangalore, the programme took place at the new mall, Bangalore Central; in Mumbai and Delhi it was at the ever-popular shoppers Stop; and in Kolkata, at the CRY office.
The celebs were out in force to demonstrate their support. Those present included:
- In Bangalore: Vasundhara Das (actress and singer), Anu Prabhakar (actress), Syed Kirmani (former test cricketer), Harish Bijoor (marketing consultant), S. G. Vasudev (artist), Vani Ganapathy (dancer), K. Vaitheeswaran (CEO, Fabmall), Yashodhara Shroff (Director, Ffolio), Shyam Srinivasan (Business Head, Cards and Personal Loans, Standard Chartered Bank)
- In Mumbai: Naseeruddin Shah (actor), Rahul Bose (actor), Shaan (singer)
- In Kolkata: Kiran Uttam Ghosh (designer),June Maliah (model/actress), Dolly Roy (tea expert)
- In Delhi: Major Rathore (Olympic medallist), Nafisa Ali (Actor) and Feisal Alkazi (playwright) on 2nd September, 2005 at Shopper's Stop
The programmes acquainted the audience with CRY's activities and the pinwheel campaign. Those present bought and signed the pinwheels, and invitees spoke up for the cause of children. "Fifty eight years after independence, 60 million children, torch-bearers of our future, live below the poverty line. That's like walking in the UK and all you see around are underprivileged children" said actor Rahul Bose, in Mumbai.
