The 4th CRY Cadence Corporate Cricket Challenge started in Delhi in Nov 2003. This time, the event was extended to Chandigarh as well, and attracted eight teams in the inaugural year itself.
The 5Cs, as we've nicknamed it, is a cricket challenge with a difference. The event unites corporates on the cricket pitch, to promote the cause of underprivileged children. Apart from the regular matches, last year there was a special side event, like a match between the corporate and media barons, with each boundary having a price tag. Apart from Cadence, the main sponsor, the event has been supported by companies like Nestle, Infosys, KPMG, MaxHealthcare, ICICI Bank, Birlasoft, Airtel, Lucent, HFCL, Hindustan Times, and Strategic Marketing, and individuals like Nafisa Ali, Chetan Chauhan, Sabah Karim, and Bishen Singh Bedi.
5Cs has seen participation grow from 12 teams in the first event to 28 teams in its fourth year. The funds raised have helped change the lives of three thousand children. This is what Mr. Saugat Sen, Group Director, Cadence, had to say about the association: "We are proud to be associated with this event for the fourth consecutive year. At Cadence, we believe that contributions made towards the local community are made by individuals, who are in turn supported by their organisations. That's why we initiated the CRY Cadence Cricket partnership."
