Maruti Suzuki FACT Quiz raises Rs 12.96 lakhs
New Delhi, 5/10/2003: In 1998, a group of CRY volunteers in Bangalore, 'Friends of CRY', came up with the idea of the Free a Child Today (FACT) corporate quiz. The purpose was to enable corporates to be a part of CRY's movement for Indian children, in a way that was both challenging and fun. Very clearly, FACT was to be a trivia quiz for a social cause and not a social cause quiz. Since all teams taking part pay a fee to participate, FACT also helps raise resources for CRY.
This year, 162 teams participated in the Maruti Suzuki FACT Quiz, conducted by India's most reputed quizmaster, Derek O'Brien, across the 5 metros of Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkota and Mumbai. The regional winners were:
Kolkata : Lafarge
Mumbai : Ogilvy and Mather
Delhi : Bates India Ltd
Bangalore: Motorola
Chennai : Citibank
At the finals in Delhi, Citibank beat Motorola.
The event raised Rs.12.96 lakhs. Since costs were covered through corporate sponsorships, the entire proceeds will go towards CRY's child development initiatives.
