Doaba Vikas evam Utthan Samiti (DVEUS)
Nature of Initiative: Implementing
Location: 30 villages in Kaushambi district of UP
Project Holder: Mr. Parvej Rizvi
Objectives: To cater to the education needs of the children belonging to disadvantaged group in the area. To bring about changes in the government programme/schemes so as to make them more realistic and beneficial for the targeted persons, with special focus on children. To work towards empowerment of women through formation of women's group and generate awareness on education and economic independence. To empower and motivate people in forming exploitation free and just society which guarantees all children to have their rights ensured.
Reference Group: Scheduled Caste communities
Situation: Kaushambi is densely populated by landless and marginal farmers who are not always ensured minimum wages. Infrastructure and functioning of health institutions like PHC, sub-centers and CHC are pitiable. Neither these are situated in the vicinity of the intervention villages. Gender biasness is prominent in the area. Enrolment in schools is abysmally low in government schools and drop out is also an increasing area of concern.
Project brief: Mr. Parvez Rizvi founded the organisation with a focus to provide education to the children of deprived families staying in the rural hinterlands. Since long Mr. Rizvi is involved in community mobilisation and networking with local resources and organisations. DVUS prioritizes activation of health and educational institutions, mainstreaming children in government primary schools, address the issues of low enrollment, reduce drop-outs and increase retention in primary schools, strengthening of panchayat samities with involvement of women and youth, mobilizing unorganized sector laborers to raise their concerns, ensure proper implementation of social security schemes and analysing CR issues in all 30 intervention villages.
