- BAAG successfully advocated to the Gujarat government to stop the closure of 8500 primary schools at the right time
- 7 children were rescued from child labour
BAAG has been working on the child rights issues in Gujarat in partnership with local NGOs; community based organizations and individual activist. CRY has been supporting BAAG since its inception in 2005. BAAG has been successful in preventing the closure of 8500 public school through advocacy with the state governement in collaboration with NCPCR and SCPCR on RTE and missing children issues. The other areas where BAAG has been predominantly working is Election advocacy, SMC consultation and has also brought about changes to reduce child labour in the BT cotton industry in North Gujarat, and the textile industry in South Gujarat. BAAG has been taking up issues of the marginalized communities, livelihood, Right to Education, Dalits oppression, Tribal land issues and Right to Health. It has broadened and strengthens its work by involving a number of CBOs, NGOs, and individuals across all regions. The Individuals and the NGO’s of Gujarat have established their work and began to build the process of self reliance within BAAG.
