WHAT CHANGED

CHEERS aims to mobilize marginalized communities in 15 villages in Kovipalli Block within Tuticorin district, TN for emancipation in the social, political and cultural arena and to protect child rights. Partnership at the organizational level was initiated in 2003 for the work accomplished on the rights of the children and community in Tuticorin district. Over the years in the partnership with CRY, Assuntha and CHEERS have been successful in achieving the purpose of ensuring children’s rights while simultaneously helping the deprived dalit and fishing communities to solve the issues of their survival and identity. In the CRY partnership process, CHEERS engaged in mobilizing the local communities for demanding a common schooling system, strengthening of public education, resisting against anti-people projects, which are posing a greater threat to the lives and livelihood of the coastal children.
