SVF Project in Bihar for Child Education

  • 34 dropout & out of school children enrolled into schools
  • 343 children are fully immunized
  • 85 birth registrations provided
  • 85 new born children are registered
  • 38 new children are linked to the Anganwadi centres
  • Child marriages particularly amongst the dalits and the tribal communities are reduced considerably

The CRY supported project, Samagra Vikas Foundation focuses on the immediate issues of the children by involving the community and taking their perspective on the issues of the children. The intervention in 20 villages in Manihari and Barari blocks of Katihar district in Bihar has brought in significant improvements in the enrollment and retention of children in schools, birth registrations of new borns, activation of ICDS services and engagement of women in the village level activities. The organization is directly engaged with children in the form of children’s collectives or through school interventions. It is also engaged with the community and women’s collectives, interfaced with government functionaries and has used media for wide scale awareness. At the same time SVF has also invested time for capacity building of the project staff through monthly meetings and participation in other forums.
