WHAT CHANGED

Society for Health Alternatives (SAHAJ) was founded in 1984 by a group of health care management graduates and experts from other areas. As an organisation, they consciously wanted to focus on the marginalised and deprived communities with an attempt to make a practical difference to people’s lives.

SAHAJ engages with broad aspects of development such as health, education, governance and gender. They have some experience in using advocacy for health and education issues, as well as on using support centres to address quality teaching and teaching methods.

Thanks to an appropriate learning environment, these children have access to a good quality education to equip them for life.

Over the years, SAHAJ has successfully questioned the quality of education through analysis of the curriculum and implementation of program in 500 Eklavya schools and 25 other schools in its operational area.

SAHAJ was earlier the state conveyor of Campaign against Child Labour (CACL) and it is currently an active member of PUCL and other networks.
