Swaraj foundation is working in the tribal belt of Hazaribagh district over the last eight years, motivating the tribals to get involved in the work towards self-governance, equitable distribution of natural resources, education, women’s issues and child rights. Swaraj Foundation has worked methodically on the issue of Malnutrition among children. In addressing the malnutrition issue amongst children it has simultaneously worked with the ICDS centres and also with the community to bring changes in the behaviour and practices which contributes to the high rate of malnourishment. Currently the organization is ensuring growth monitoring of about 1500 children in 43 ICDS centres in the project area. The organization is also intensively working very closely with 81 severely malnourished children As a result 48 children have moved out from being severely malnourished to the normal status.
