For more than a hundred years, the children of the tea gardens, their parents and earlier generations have lived here in North Bengal as isolated migrants from Jharkhand and Nepal.

Swaraj Mahali, a Jharkhandi child only nine months old, living in one of North Bengal's closed tea gardens. On a closer look, she is a tiny body ravaged by tuberculosis. More than half of the children in these gardens suffer from severe malnutrition. Read the complete story
