The Real Picture
1 in every 2 children in India is denied their right to primary education, keeping 60 million children out of school, out of a right they are guaranteed by the constitution.
However, it is not just about building schools or ensuring infrastructure to put these children in school. Various factors go into denying these children, their right to education. Factors like:
- Lack of government schools in the vicinity
- Lack of teachers and necessary infrastructure
- Unaffordable education in private schools
- The need to supplement their household income by working
- And in the case of Girl Child, lack of toilets in schools, the need to help with the household chores etc
How can you help change this situation?
