| Description of initiative in brief | Mon aims to create a society in which individuals especially children are psychosocially competent and have the ability to solve problems, set goals, work towards achieving them by accessing resources and addressing limitations. Their mission is to enhance psychosocial competence in an individual and reduce the suffering caused by mental health problems. The organizational journey so far can be traced back in six phases. The initial phase (1992-96) focussed on research to understand the prevalence of mental health and sensitization programmes. During second phase (1996-99) CRY started its support and prevalence study among school children was initiated apart from sensitization programs. In third phase active intervention in terms of life skill education was started. Forth phase (2004) led to outreach programmes in form of creating rural trainers team. 2005 saw expansion of programme in terms of involving children other than school children and expansion of out reach programme. CRY partners this NGO through direct action which includes financial and non-financial support such as management of funds, project-planning, material requirements, perspective-building programmes on child rights, baseline data establishment, organisational development, advocacy campaigns, linking them to larger alliances and networks, training for skill building, information support, and developing promotional materials among others |
