AJITHA SUNDARESAN WRITES…

Looking back through the years
All the way to where the journey began
Was a world bereft of worries and fears,
A world of cheerful abandon and infinite plan.

A spring in your steps and a sparkle in your eyes,
An infectious smile to match, as you marched out to play
Peering in wide wonder at the smallest of things:

the grass, birds, insects or blue skies
The dry twigs, dirty pebbles and stones or even just muddy clay.

Swinging and swaying in joy in merry company
Everyone was a buddy or friend;
Where innocent banter played out in perfect harmony
Where promises were meant to be kept till the end.

Now though remains only but a shadow of those golden times;
A plethora of nostalgia and wonderful memories
Still brings a smile that chimes
With a beautiful childhood that shapes life’s stories.
