“It was great visiting the project areas where PORD has been relentlessly working for many years. It was clear from the PORD’s functioning that there are lot of problems that they face every day and lot are lies ahead of them. But they derive strength from the children and partners like CRY.”
It was an amazing opportunity to spend an
entire day with the Lalitamma and staff members of PORD (People’s Organization for Rural Development) and understand the grass root issues faced while achieving a Machiavellian task like that of the Fighting for Child rights.
A famous quote from Einstein said “The only source of knowledge is experience”, and I truly believe in this as also about learning from other’s experience because we have very limited time to learn from our experience alone.
I find inspirational stories very motivating and the narrative of Lalithamma which inspired her to work for the child rights all through 20 yrs is something I’m very moved by.
It was an eye opener to understand the issues faced even as one fights for a noble cause. Be it fighting for basic rights with siblings, fighting against socially constructed norms, fighting for the people’s rights which they truly deserve, at every step there was a lot of resistance faced by Lalithamma herself. Because it is not just a fight against these social issues but because it is the function of ‘changing people’s attitudes’ and changing Attitude is a hard thing.
Thank you CRY and thanks Raji for this opportunity.
