The Challenge:
Only 3 out of 5 girls in India are enrolled in higher secondary education.
(Source: GER, UDISE 2021-22). Despite the Right to Education Act 2009 promising free and compulsory education for children up to age 14, many girls still can’t reach higher secondary school. Societal norms, child marriage, and inadequate school infrastructure are significant barriers preventing girls from completing their education. These challenges lead to girls dropping out of school, discontinuing their education, and often marrying early. This not only halts their learning but also prevents them from reaching their full potential.

What We’re Doing for Girls’ Education?
Child Rights and You (CRY) has been dedicated to empowering girls since its inception. We collaborate with grassroots project partners to bring about sustainable change at all levels, ensuring every girl’s right to education is fulfilled. As a leading NGO for girls education, we promote and support girls through four key focus areas:
Why Educating Girls Matters
When girls are educated, they are empowered to make their own choices, help their families, create more jobs, and improve society. It’s crucial to change the way people think about girls’ education in India. Every girl deserves love and respect.
A study by McKinsey on Gender Parity found that if all girls complete their education and participate in the workforce, India could add a whopping $770 billion to the country’s GDP by 2025. This could mean a brighter future for everyone. Supporting girls’ education through donations is a powerful way to make this happen.
Let’s ensure that girls complete their higher secondary education and help the nation prosper—kyunki unki poori padhai mein hi hai desh ki bhalai!
