Children’s Rights in Goa (CRG) started as a programme of Vikas Adhyayan Kendra (VAK), Mumbai, in 1996. It was formally registered in 2006. The organization has four distinct but interconnected areas of work- child empowerment, campaign, child protection and advocacy on child rights issues, as well as documentation and research. It works at the grass roots and conducts advocacy on the basis of its experience. Broadly, it carries out five kinds of activities and programs in 9 villages of three blocks (including 3 new areas) of North Goa to ensure the right to protection and right to participation of children. Children Rights in Goa (CRG) also conducts safety education sessions upto the seventh standard for students in 30 schools of North Goa about their rights; they also run Child Activity Centres to prevent drop out from schools and to enroll children who have never been to schools.
