Nature of Initiative: Network / Alliance
Project holder: Mr. M Narayanswamy
CRY support since: 2007 – 2008
- Advocacy by SPJA with the Government impacted positively on the egg distribution for moderately undernourished children in Hyderabad, Karnataka
- SPJA has been conducting regular visits to NRC’s and monitoring children who require health treatment under Bala Sanjeevani
- SPJA actively followed up with the Child Rights commission to strengthen the monitoring systems for child rights violations
SPJA alliance was initiated in the year 2007 with CRY as a partner in Karnataka. SPJA had several successful advocacy programs at State level between 2007- 2009. SPJA also faced big challenges and difficult times to strengthen district level committees, mobilization, internal dynamics and strengthening of institutional processes. The State Alliance has highlighted immense learning by working on child protection issues. Few sessions were held in the State Committee meetings to build knowledge on child marriage, POCSO Act and ICPS. They have planned to take the learnings from the state consultation forward through public awareness / workshops on prevention of child marriages in community marriages.
