SRAMA’s operational activities with direct interventions include 18 revenue villages covering 23 hamlets of Alamuru Mandal in East Godavari District, AP. The area has a high density of Dalit population. The area has around 150 brick kilns operating which cause pollution and practice bonded labor systems. The women in this area face extreme exploitation. Hence the situation is extremely vulnerable for girl children. Children’s education, health, nutrition and overall sanitation of hamlets are the priority areas of intervention. SRAMA with support from CRY is playing a crucial role in addressing issues related to Common School System (CSS), child labor, alienation from land resources and resultant discrimination. They have addressed the issues of bonded labor in the brick kilns and in terms of compensation.
