Bal Sakha Project for Child Protection in Jharkhand

  • 3 new observations home have been set up in the state
  • Formation of JJBs in the entire district
  • 15 CWCs and an inspection committee has been set up
  • Initiation of community drivend child protection programmes in 15 villages across three districts – Gumla, Lohardagga and Ranchi

Bal Sakha is a registered social organization working towards the rehabilitation and mainstreaming of street children into schools since 1984 in Jharkhand and Bihar. Their activities also include advocacy for child rights, implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Amendment Act-2006, maintaining quality of care in government run homes for these children and creating awareness on child rights in the rural areas. Bal Sakha has also been engaged in imparting training to Allied Services, Police, Judiciary, NGOs, Youth, Volunteers etc. Bal Sakha works in close association with the District Administration, Judiciary, NGOs and other community based organizations for better networking and to garner a wider reach for this cause.
