What is your reason behind volunteering at CRY: To make a difference
Share your experience with children while volunteering at CRY:
The journey of Dhakuria PAG has been one long bumpy road but i can sum it up and say that it has been an amazing journey from day 1 where the kids hardly took us seriously to now, after more than an year of hard work, they share even the minute details of their life with us. We are much more than just volunteers , we’ve grown into one big happy family who are always looking out for each other. I remember this one time when I was hospitalized the kids called me up every weekend to ask my condition and they made sure to tell me that they are missing me. This is one of the reasons why no matter how hard my week has been or how packed up my weekend is, I make sure to make time to attend sessions with these kids or as we call them “our kids”.
Your future goals in CRY:
1. To make them understand the basics of most subjects.
2. To improve their english language and pronunciation skills.
3. To make sure that they are giving education enough importance and that there are no dropouts.

I am part of CRY since October 2016
What is your reason behind volunteering at CRY:
As I want to work for betterment of society and I found CRY as one of the best organisation which works for child rights
Share your experience with children while volunteering at CRY:
The happiness which I see on children’s face due to our little efforts gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction
Your future goals in CRY
I will try to bring some constructive changes in children’s life with CRY.

Volunteering in CRY since: September 2016
What is your reason behind volunteering at CRY:
The privilege of being born into a family and life that allowed me to get all sorts of opportunities and never made me want for anything, was a stroke of luck, like picking a high scoring card out a deck of them. And then, there are children we see everyday, every bit as bright, and with every right to avail the best of opportunities but unable to do so, simply because they haven’t had the luck, and because of financial and social constraints. So, it is our responsibility and duty to use our privilege to try and make a difference in these kids life, push them towards making something of themselves, to break the vicious cycle of poverty, illiteracy, health and social constraints for a better world. CRY gives me the opportunity to make a difference, and above individually, helps me reach an entire community at once, which I am grateful for.
Share your experience with children while volunteering at CRY:
There is nothing better than to see a child grow and prosper, knowing you played a part in that. Seeing them go on the stage for our event ‘Think Free’, and sing a song I taught them made me feel like one proud parent. And even now, the little things, like watching their chests puff up with pride on getting simple maths sums right, being open with me and all the volunteers about their weaknesses and strengths, is a marvel. My experience has been a real eye opener and an educational one.
Your future goals in CRY
The top priority would be making sure all these kids become responsible and good citizens of our country. This would include targeting one of the most important Millennium Development Goal of the United Nations, which is Universal education. Along side this, making them aware about health and hygiene and sexual abuse would be my future goals.

Experience in CRY:
CRY has been a great experience. It has opened corridors for a huge number of children . We started from the basics , starting with english and mathematics. However , sessions are made more interesting since they are not only taught the subjects taught in school , but also several aspects of personality development , art and craft , singing , dancing and other extra curricular activities. Health camps are also organised and all of these , together makes it a huge platform for interaction with children , contributing to their all round development.
Why did i join CRY?
Being a student of social science is of no use if one cannot do something for the upliftment of the society. I always wanted to do something in practical life for the society and their can be nothing better than working for child rights .CRY provided me the platform for ensuing this dream of mine.
Children are gifts of god and as Vivekananda says Liberty does not mean the absence of obstacles in the manifestation of wealth but it means that every individual should get equal opportunities for developing the qualities of body, mind and intelligence . The society that provides this is the society which will achieve liberty . It is a duty of every citizen to stand against any kind of discrimination and evil practices against children. Though Article 24 provides for the prohibition of employment in children below the age of 14 years , the reality is, it is not operated fully and still we find children working. In fact when i travel in train itself i find small kids selling things in train which is heartbreaking. Poverty steals childhood from children . I believed that CRY could provide me the platform for working for this cause and hence, i joined CRY.
Future plans in CRY
In the coming days , my plans are to encourage more and more individuals to join CRY so that more pags can be opened for children and thus expanding the outreach and Conducting surveys regarding Children’s nutrition , whether they are getting proper education in schools and living in a proper environment.

My reasons behind volunteering at CRY:
When I was studying at my school, I have seen couple of talented and enthusiastic children in my neighbourhood or places my relatives stay are not getting chances to learn extracurricular activities due to financial problems. From that time onwards, I had a dream of making a difference to underprivileged children in the world. Hence, I decided to join CRY as a volunteer.
My experience with children while volunteering at CRY:
Volunteering at CRY has helped strengthen my positive attitude towards life. After overcoming several challenge, I have realised that no matter what the challenge is, if a team works towards making a difference to children, we can always find a solution to it. After conducting a few art and craft sessions with children, children of our PAG gifted us a pen-stand with ice-cream sticks on Teacher’s Day. It was a proud moment for all of us to see that our effort has made positive impact in their thinking and the fact that they have given us the respect of teachers brought tears to my eyes.
My future goals in CRY:
I would like to see that children in our Public Action Group or PAG become good at their studies and they also get chances to improve their extracurricular activitie

What is your reason behind volunteering at CRY:
As children, we are innocent. We are curious. We speak our minds fearlessly and ask questions when we don’t understand something. But as we grow older, these virtues in us start fading. That’s why children are the best form of humans. I volunteer at CRY to stay close to their influence and to be constantly reminded of what good was given to me.
Share your experience with children while volunteering at CRY:
Children here at Dhakuria PAG are like children of any other part of the world – they are pure. The way they eagerly wait for us, follow us at till the end of the road after every session-these actions show how much they love us. I enjoy their company, talking to them on various topics. I love teaching them something of value and they don’t fail to surprise me with their ideas too. It’s been a great journey so far.
Our future goals in CRY:
Working here at CRY, I want to help the children in our PAG in developing good soft skills. I want them to have the confidence to talk to people, to discuss their ideas and value themselves. Above all, I want them to realise that they have equal opportunities to pursue their goals in life.

Believe in the motto of CRY. We are here to being in a permanent solution to issues. So if you are looking to satisfy your conscience, CRY may not be the place for you. Working at CRY requires perseverance and selflessness. Achieving results is not easy, sometimes you may end up achieving nothing on paper. But remember, we learn out of every experience, and when you bring a change, you’ll bring a change that lasts. Everyone at CRY has the unique opportunity to be part of history.

The best thing about CRY is that they don’t teach children rather motivate them to go to government schools. It is important because none of us can give them that education that will help them get jobs and proper knowledge, that is what only the schools can provide.

Not all children are as fortunate as we were as a kid. There are so many children in our country whose childhood is stolen from them because of the various reasons like corruption, govt norms, policies, ignorance, etc. We at CRY are fighting for the childhood of these less fortunate children so that we can provide them what is their basic right – their childhood. Last but not the least – the happiness and satisfaction which you get from such a noble cause can’t be explained, it can only be experienced.

I thank my stars to be born in a family where I had all the elements for a perfect childhood, all the opportunities, love and care that i needed. I guess this is true for all the families in the middle and higher income group. Many of us had a memorable n blissful childhood. But not all children are so blessed like us. I think a little bit of contribution from all of us can not only ensure them their right to proper childhood but also ensure their future. If one child out of a poor family stands up on his own feet, he can pull out his whole family n coming generations out of their miseries

My experience with CRY has been a very fulfilling one. It’s not just about the kind of work you do, but also about the way you carry out the work, and the spirit which is inculcated in you. The best part is that you get to make a change at the most fundamental level, and even the smallest contribution can go a long way forward in making a difference.

We all are too privileged to understand the issues of marginalized child’s life- it’s not our fault as we have never been through the same. If you get a chance, meet them, interact with them and you will get to know a completely different world- a world as amazing as ours but with fewer opportunities. So, don’t just sympathize. Be in their shoes for a day and you will empathize.

Every child is unique. God’s gift. It is the duty of each of us to ensure that they get their rights. We were lucky enough to go to good schools, study in good colleges, and look forward for a bright future. By just contributing a small portion of our free time, we can make a world of a difference in their life.
Being volunteers at CRY, we get to work directly for and with the children. The satisfaction and contentment one feels on helping a child go to a better school, live in a safer place and exercise his due rights is beyond everything.Come and give it a try once and then decide.

Even though there are ample resources made available to the BMC schools by the government they aren’t properly utilized. Whether the carelessness is there at the levels of BMC or the school management or the teachers or even the parents, it’s the children who are ultimately suffering. There is a change in attitude that is required at each and every level – BMC officials have to make sure that all the resources are reaching the schools, school management should make sure that the resources are properly utilized, teachers should consider their duty not to just come to the classes but also to teach well and last but not the least parent should recognize the importance of education and make sure that the children are attending the schools.
We the privileged people have never faced some of the issues related to child rights. We truly understand the importance of child rights. However when it comes to working towards making sure that the underprivileged sections of the society are not deprived of these rights we just don’t care. Many a times we feel that it’s the responsibility of the government or that one person cant change anything. Truly speaking this is how I used to feel before I joined CRY. Soon I realized that no matter how small our contribution can be , even if we are able to convince a few others about the importance of child rights then we can bring about a huge change. It is us who being educated are able to understand it’s true importance, it is us who have all the resources to make demands for child right and it is us who can teach the people in the slums the importance of child rights and how to fight for them. At CRY we all work together to spread the awareness of child rights and motivate the privileged section of the society to fight for them. It’s YOU who can bring about the change.

A long journey of thousand miles begins with the first step. Once we’ve taken this first step by joining CRY you’ve a direction. Every body wants to give back to the society in some way or other but we don’t have a direction or a motivating environment. You can find all this at CRY. The most impressive part is the fact that although you’re helping kids CRY ensures that we don not cross the thin boundary of becoming a necessary hand from a helping hand to these kids. We’re there to make them aware of their rights and motivate them to go for it instead of doing charities and make them feel needful. You must be thinking that’s strange, because the first thing that comes to your mind when you see their plight is to do some charity, but chairty is temporary but all that CRY asks for, is your time and energy and help people achieve their needs on their own by proper education and awareness of various existing schemes. I’m very new to CRY, but I’m sure I’ll play a long innings here.
