This Women’s Day, stand with future champions.
In Khunti, Jharkhand, girls who were once told to stay within limits are now stepping onto a hockey field, playing, competing, and being seen.
For many, it’s the first time their names are called out in public. The first time they feel confident. The first time they believe they can dream bigger.
That change happens when someone chooses to stand with them.
This Women’s Day, that someone is you.
What changes when a girl steps onto the field?
Through CRY’s Sports for Change programme in remote tribal communities:
- Nearly 100 girls now train regularly where girls’ movement was once restricted
- Girls who were at risk of dropping out are continuing school
- Parents who once hesitated now cheer from the sidelines
- Communities are beginning to see girls as capable and confident
Smita now dreams of becoming a police officer.
Nutan competes at district level knowing she belongs there.
Anna travels 10 kilometres to practise, determined not to give up.
Sport becomes more than a game.
It becomes confidence, voice, and possibility.
But the field is only one part of her journey.
Behind every girl who plays freely are years of effort to:
- Prevent child marriage
- Help her stay in school
- Support families to access government benefits
- Build girls’ collectives that strengthen confidence and leadership
- Change community mindsets that once limited her future
Real empowerment doesn’t happen in a day.
It needs continued support.
This Women’s Day, will you help create the next shift?
Because somewhere, another girl is still waiting for her chance.
Your support can help more girls:
- Stay in school
- Access safe spaces to grow and learn
- Build confidence through sports and leadership
- Dream beyond what they see around them
When you support a girl, you don’t just change her life.
You change how she sees herself.
Stand with future girl champions.
