25 years ago, in 1979, 7 friends got together, raised 50 rupees and started the organisation called CRY Child Relief and You. Their office was a dining table, their inspiration the firm belief that every Indian child was entitled to the basic rights of survival, development, protection and participation.

Over the years, the organisation grew into a movement, individual-by-individual, rupee-by-rupee. The CRY movement now comprises over 1 lakh individuals and organisations who contribute an average of Rs 1500 a year. In 2003 alone, CRY was able to channelise these funds to support 171 grassroots initiatives, permanently changing the lives of 92,549 Indian children.

The journey has been long and rewarding. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we share our plans for the future and invite you to recommit yourself to the movement for child rights in India.
