Act towards child rights
Advocacy, simply put is to 'amplify voice'. At CRY, being a Child Rights advocate means - to amplify the voice of children. We invite you to join us in this movement to put children first.
What you can do:
- Sport the 'I stand for child rights' badge and spread the word.
- Download and read the Child Rights charter of demands.
- Sign the charter and demand these non-negotiables from your local governance.
- Start by taking a walk down to the municipal school or health centre in your neighbourhood and see what you can do to change the situation. Maybe you and a few of your friends from the neighbourhood could get together and make it a more child-friendly environment.
- Stand up with and for any child who is fighting for her rights.
- Stop and chat with a kid on the street. Stop and chat with your own kid about something that he/she really cares about.
- Try looking at the world through the eyes of a child.
- Say no to sex selective abortion.
- Reject goods or services that employ children - search for and encourage those that employ and pay adults enough to send their children to school.
- Refrain from employing a child as domestic help and suggest the same to your social contacts.
- Get the organisation you work with to do an in-house campaign to get employees to contribute time, money or skills.
- Lastly, give a thought. Give a shoulder. Give anything you can to this movement for child rights. And most of all give up your indifference.
