Are all those who work for CRY, its employees? We have 150 fulltime employees in our 5 offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai and a small group of volunteers who work for us. Conditions of employment in CRY are the same as in any corporate office. We meet all the conditions of a long term employer and pay employee benefits like provident fund, gratuity etc. with policies and practices that regulate employment such as regular working hours, privilege leave and sick leave.
Does CRY offer part-time employment?
There are very few jobs at CRY that are part-time in nature. About 90% of the jobs are full time jobs.
Does CRY offer flexi-timings? Flexi-timings are offered for specific jobs which do not have a high degree of face to face interaction required within CRY.
Does CRY accept applications from freshers, without any experience? (egs: MBA's, MSW's..) Yes we do accept applications from freshers. This however is dependent on the vacancy at CRY.
Will my professional skills in Social Work/Marketing / Finance / HR etc be used and enhanced? CRY needs professionals from the Development Sector/Marketing / Sales / Communications / Finance / HR for its relevant divisions. Both professional skills and competence are required in CRY as in any other organisation.
CRY offers both quality and width of exposure to all marketing disciplines since we use fund raising techniques of various types like direct mailing, direct marketing, channel management, event management and marketing, corporate tieup's, key account management and brand management.
CRY's Development Support Division offers wide exposure in several areas such as identification of development partners that would best help achieve the CRY objectives; optimal utilization of resources; effective performance monitoring and evaluation; implementation of efficient processes and systems; capacity building of partners, information sharing, developing and managing alliances and networks, policy analysis and advocacy for child rights.
There is a large amount of flexibility and creative freedom in most roles in CRY
Will I be able to work directly with children? CRY is a link organisation and does not run its own projects. Therefore employment in CRY does not entail directly working with children. Being employed in CRY is about working for children, since the final objective of the organisation and every job in it, is the restoration of child rights for children.
Therefore, your day-to-day job would be in areas of resource mobilisation, development support, finance or communication and not teaching children, or community-based work as in the case of grassroots organisations.
What will be my growth prospects in CRY? CRY has a set of well defined roles and organisational structure. There is a well-defined performance management process, with clear performance rewards and growth parameters. The system ensures that individual and team goals are defined and performance is closely measured against these annual goals. Growth is purely merit and performance based and not tenure based.
Does CRY recruit summer trainees?
CRY recruits summer trainees on the basis of availability of projects in any of its functions. It involves projects extending from 1-2 months. A stipend is paid to the trainee who is undertaking the project for CRY.

In addition, employees are also eligible for performance pay based on individual and organization performance, mediclaim (hospitalization) for self and dependents and accident insurance for self.

Are CRY employees liable to pay Income Tax? CRY is an indigenous non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose employees' salaries are covered under the Income Tax Act.
