To provide support in-kind to CRY-partnered grassroots-level NGOs and communities, we set up a CRY Materials Bank in Delhi in 1991. The bank is an easy and accessible way for anyone who would like to partner CRY in its mission beyond just monetary support. All materials (in good or working condition) which can be used by organisations working with children are welcome. We do not accept old items. The communities make a nominal contribution towards the items they require thus giving value to the material and self-respect to the beneficiaries.
To list some of the items :
- Educational material like notebooks, pencils, erasers, and other stationery items.
- Health care material like first-aid kits.
- Recreational materials such as storybooks, comics (preferably in Hindi), plastic/wooden toys, and so on.
- Other items like clothes - (cottons , woolens etc) dhurries, blankets, fabrics, etc.
Some organisations contribute in kind too. For instance in addition to partnering CRY through cause-related marketing, Nokia donated a cellular phone to CRY's Delhi office to be used during events.
