CRY - Tamil Nadu State Elections Campaign
More than 40% of the population in Tamil Nadu will not have a say in determining who forms our next government when the state goes to the polls in May this year. They are citizens whose basic rights are violated millions of times each day. They cannot make large contributions to political parties or hire professional lobbyists. Nor do they have an association to represent their interests.
They are children. And they need us - we who have a vote; we who determine policies and influence opinion - to speak up in their name.
CRY, an Indian organisation that has worked to restore child rights in the country for over 28 years, has witnessed that irreversible change is possible when NGOs and communities at grassroots levels, government and active individuals like you, come together to identify, address and resolve issues that constrain children.
This elections in the State of Tamil Nadu , CRY along with other like minded NGOs have drawn up a charter of demands that asks every political party that's contesting in the state elections to make a commitment towards children and their rights.
You too can join this movement for children. Let your candidate know that a prosperous state starts with ensuring basic rights to children. Urge your friends to add their voice to yours. Leave your voice on the child rights blog. Turn your silent support into a deluge of blogs, and on-site pledges that no political party can ignore.
Let's ask the government to take responsibility for the children in the state.
You can also take the poll on child rights in the context of Tamil Nadu state elections and let us know your view.
