Careers at CRY - Frequently Asked Questions
We have more than 150 full-time employees across our 5 offices - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai along with a few consultants and and volunteers who support us in our work. Conditions of employment in CRY are the same as in any corporate office. We meet all the conditions of a long-term employer and pay employee benefits like provident fund, gratuity etc. with policies and practices that regulate employment such as regular working hours, privilege leave and sick leave.
There are very few jobs at CRY that are part-time in nature. About 90% of the jobs are full-time jobs.
Flexi-timings are offered for specific jobs which do not have a high degree of face to face interaction required within CRY.
CRY is governed by a leadership structure made up of two bodies, a Board of Trustees, and the Management Committee headed by the CEO. In principle, members of the Board serve in their individual capacity, and not as representatives of any organisation or institution, to ensure complete independence in policy making. The key role of the management committee is to provide direction and leadership to the organisation, evolve and implement strategy, create relevant organisational policy and efficiently run operations.
Mission-centric performance planning, evaluation and reward systems are key. Our processes are democratic, participative, and we follow transparent decision-making. CRY provides for both formal and informal feedback mechanisms and forums. All processes and systems are documented and we conduct an independent audit of the same. Consistent adherence to, and investments in, building mission and values led ethos and culture for the core of this people-centered advocacy movement for child rights. Read more on Governance at CRY
Yes, we do accept applications from freshers. This however is dependent on the vacancy at CRY.
CRY needs professionals from the Development Sector/Marketing / Sales / Communications / Finance / HR for its relevant divisions. Both professional skills and competence are required in CRY as in any other organisation.
CRY is a link organisation and does not run its own projects. Therefore employment in CRY does not entail directly working with children. Being employed in CRY is about working for children, since the final objective of the organisation and every job in it, is to restore to children their rights.
CRY has a set of well defined roles and organisational structure. There is a well-defined performance management process, with clear performance rewards and growth parameters. The system ensures that individual and team goals are defined and performance is closely measured against these annual goals. Growth is purely merit and performance based and not tenure based.
CRY recruits summer trainees on the basis of availability of projects in any of its functions. It involves projects extending from 1-2 months. A stipend is paid to the trainee who is undertaking the project for CRY.
In addition, employees are also eligible for performance pay based on individual and organisation performance, mediclaim (hospitalisation) for self and dependents and accident insurance for self.
CRY is an indigenous non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose employees' salaries are covered under the Income Tax Act.
