- 96% of the children under 5 years have received immunization
- Drinking water has been made available for 38 children from 25 families in the colony
- 17 community meetings were organised with the support of health action council covering 20 colonies
Dalit Women’s Society started its operations in the year 1992 by a group of dalit women. The key focus areas for the organisation was the Kurichi panchayath spread within a radius of 16kms which included 20 dalit colonies situated in 20 wards of the panchayath, Pallom Block, Changanaserry Taluk, Kottayam District. Since its inception, DWS has focused its intervention on education of children.The operational area of the project is densely populated by Dalit Christians. Over the years, DWS has focused on programs for children, conducting sessions on Child Rights from the frame of Survival, Development and Protection Rights. The project in partnership with CRY has aimed to work towards the betterment of lives of the children and ensure dignity of dalit communities residing in the ghettos of Kerala. Origining from dalit communities, children face discrimination in almost all areas in the community. Thorugh out the years, DWS has strengthened its work with a full time team and intervened strongly on child rights issues.
