Read MoreIn a country where the girl child often faces barriers to education, Disha's story reflects the transformative impact of empowering girls through education and is a great example of determination and resilience. Let's delve into her story and discover how CRY played a pivotal role in shaping her future.
Disha, a young girl, hails from a small village in Tamil Nadu. Her family, who belong to a marginalized community, encountered numerous challenges like limited resources and the distant location of the school. These obstacles were compounded by societal expectations for girls to marry early. Disha's elder sister's marriage after completing the 11th grade intensified these concerns.
Despite the odds, the team from the CRY project intervened, recognizing Disha's potential. As the second daughter in a marginalized family, she decided to study further and defied societal norms to pursue her dreams. Through persistent efforts, they motivated her parents and facilitated her admission to the 11th grade with a focus on Maths and Biology. Disha excelled in her studies, scoring an impressive 91% in the 12th grade. Facing challenges in clearing NEET initially, the team's support secured her a place in a coaching academy. She succeeded in the second attempt, with a score of 449, securing admission into Erode Government Medical College. Her perseverance and passion for education set her apart, making her a beacon of hope for her community.
As we celebrate Disha's achievements, let's reflect on the countless other children facing similar challenges. Your support can make a significant difference in breaking barriers and providing opportunities for girls like Disha. Let's unite to provide opportunities for many more girls to chase their dreams.
