Saksham is a grass root organization registered in 2008 working from the last 6 years in Delhi and NCR region in the slums of Jahangir Puri, Haidarpur and Shahbad Diary in the North West district in Delhi. Saksham has been working with the underprivileged sections on issues of education, health, child rights and child protection. The areas are selected keeping in mind the needs of the community, especially on issues of child education and protection. The vision of the organization is to create a just and harmonious environment where children can enjoy their rights freely.

Through these years, Saksham has endeavored to develop the leadership skills of the youth in the slums of Haiderpur, Jahangirpuri and Shahbad dairy. The approach of Saksham has been to promote voluntarism, especially among youth groups in the communities to take up issues of children through sensitizing them, building their capacities and bringing them together to bring about social changes in the communities. Saksham also intervened towards improving sanitation and health issues of the community. With huge number of children out of school and dropping out, the work of the organization will definitely bring about change in the lives of children in the community. Today Saksham has, through its intervention, been able to draw linkages of issues at the community level, especially issues of education and protection.
