Show Child Labour The Red Card

Some things should stop the moment we see them.

A foul on a football field. A child being made to work.

One gets an immediate red card. The other often becomes part of the background.

A child serving tea. Carrying bricks. Cleaning tables. Selling balloons at the signal.

This year, CRY is joining the International Labour Organization’s global Red Card to Child Labour movement.

Because child labour isn’t a part of childhood. It’s the loss of it.

Show Child Labour The Red Card.

Indias children

The red card is one of the world’s clearest symbols.

It means: This is not okay. Stop.

That’s what we’re asking people, communities and organisations to do.

Reject child labour. Call it out. Refuse to look away.

What Can We Do?

A few simple ways to make a difference:

1. Report child labour at pencil.gov.in if you see a child working somewhere they shouldn’t be.

2. Look for the GoodWeave label when buying rugs and carpets.

3. Choose Fairtrade-certified tea and coffee whenever possible.

4. Be mindful of products and services linked to industries where child labour is known to be prevalent.

And sometimes, ask the simplest question of all:

Why is this child working here?

One question can start a conversation.

A conversation can spark action.

And action can help protect a childhood.

Together, we can show child labour the red card and help India’s children reclaim their right to childhood.

Take the Pledge. Raise the Red Card. Protect Childhood.

Child labour can end only when more people choose not to ignore it.

Support our work to help children return to classrooms, not workplaces.
